I am a new mother. A new mother of twin boys to be exact. I’m what some might  call a Rookie Mom. You know what I’m talking about. Those new moms that make  every mistake in the book and can’t seem to figure this whole motherhood thing  out.Well, I intend to turn this whole Rookie Mom thing on it’s head with my  Goddessness. You see, I am an empowered woman. Goddess is the term I use. And a  Goddess knows how to turn a challenging experience into a life lesson. She  strives for the “GoddessGasm” in every situation and creates a whole new way of  being out of it. What is a “GoddessGasm” you ask? A “GoddessGasm” is a word I  made up to describe an empowered woman’s spontaneous and uncontrollable orgasmic  burst of clarity, truth and self-acceptance. Yes!

Now some new mothers might get overwhelmed by the mere thought of what it  will take to be a good mother. Not me. I’m excited! I get giddy just thinking  about all of the new things I will learn from my boys. I’ve learned so much  already and they’re only 4 months old. I’ve learned to slow down and be present  with my sons. I am finding it less and less productive to be a multitasker. And  this is coming from someone who used to think if I was only doing five things at  once, I wasn’t doing enough. They’ve taught me to give my full attention to each  task and each moment. That’s GoddessGasm-worthy if I may say so myself. Yes! Continue reading

angelina jolie and her medical choice

angelina-jolie-brad-pit-with-her-kidsOriginally posted on PSJackie.com

I don’t know Angelina Jolie. I’ve never met her… or even seen her on the streets of Los Angeles, where I live. But tonight, Angelina Jolie has officially rocked my world and made me feel things I can’t even describe. Because tonight, Angelina Jolie has come out, sharing that she is BRCA positive. What does that mean? It means a genetic mutation in her body gives her an 87 percent chance of breast cancer, 50 percent ovarian risk (the same cancer that took her own mother at the age of 56). It’s a genetic mutation I’m quite familiar with, because I have it too.

And like me, Angelina Jolie opted to do whatever she could to drastically decrease the odds of being diagnosed with cancer — she underwent a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy, which she writes about for the New York Times.

On April 27, I finished the three months of medical procedures that the mastectomies involved. During that time I have been able to keep this private and to carry on with my work.

But I am writing about it now because I hope that other women can benefit from my experience. Continue reading

6 weeks to live BETTER challenge – Sherina’s 1st week

A few weeks ago I posted a note on facebook looking for people who like me, wanted to make a lifestyle change; to live healthier, be more active and make better choices to live a better life. I was surprised at the amount of support and interest I received.  Sherina is one of the amazing people that accepted this challenge and this is her story. -JenniFDB.

the 1st wweek – written by Sherina Archer

Hello beautiful people,

This week went by almost successful. I say almost because I had every intent on taking my behind to the gym. I tried I really did but it just didn’t happen. See in certain aspects in my life I want instant gratification. I.e. weight loss. For instance, if i do 30 minutes of cardio, 50 arm curls and 100 sit ups at the gym, I want to at least see a 2 pack the following day. Lol.. It may seem silly but I know I’m not alone on this. But instead of seeing a 2 pack… I see nothing of the sort. I would even try to suck my stomach in to see if i saw a difference in that department. But deep down I know it’s just wishful thinking.
Any who, since I’ve turned vegan there’s been all sorts of temptations in my life. Continue reading

2/2013 – written by Sherina Archer

Hello Beautiful People,

I wish I could do the video blog to show the world a moment by moment view of my weight loss. However, i work in a home 10 hrs a day. So for fear of violating my patients HIPPA rights and losing my dam job, which would send me in to depression mode for sure lol, I’ll just write.

My name is Sherina Archer. I’m 28 years old and working parent to one handsome little 2 year old boy. Let me just say that I love food, all kinds, and I’m not ashamed to say it. I wasn’t the type of woman to be shy at the dinner table. Now I always conduct myself as a lady should when eating but let’s just say I had no fear of term “seconds please”.
Since giving birth I’ve gained 34 lbs. Continue reading
